I've been having what I believe are connection issues since the first version that I installed of the Skype for Business for Mac client. Up until the latest update I would get not error message and would only notice the issue as I received missed conversations emails.
Here is a post from November 2016 that I posted on the Microsoft Tech Community forums, but got no reply -> link
'I'm getting emails about missed conversations in Skype for Businessfor Mac even though my Skype for Businessis connected. When this happens, I try to send someone a chat message and it doesn't throw an error, but the message is not received. I have to restart Skype for Businessfor those messages to be delivered and to be able to use Skype for Businessagain. It's like Skype for Businessis loosing connection. Any ideas?'
In addition to this, I've had issues:
- Joining calls. This is fixed by restarting Skype for Business.
- When on a call, I'm not able to share my screen. This is also fixed by restarting Skype for Business.
Skype For Business Feature Matrix
After the latest update for Skype for Business (version 16.5.185), I started getting a mac notification for Skype for Business that says 'We're having trouble connecting to the server. If this continues, please contact your support team.'. Some days I get this error notification every ~15min on other days I get it every ~1hour or so. When this started happening, I found this post, and commented on it to try to get some help, but was instructed to create a separate thread as my issue seemed to be different since our DNS entries we're confirmed to be correctly configured.

Skype For Business Mac Client Update
With the release of Skype for Business Server 2015 CU4 (now available) and Lync Server 2013 CU8 HF1 (now available), we will support Skype for Business on Mac as a desktop application. This means that having a mobility policy assigned to Mac users will not be required. The new client is, I’d say, a fair and equitable companion to the Windows Skype for Business client. There are some differences, and (as of now) a few limitations. But overall, I think our Mac customers will enjoy this client very much. On October 27, 2016, Microsoft made the all new Skype for Business on Mac client generally available for download. With this client now available, The Skype team has provided modern clients on all the most popular platforms natively or supported via VDI. The new client is, I’d say, a fair and equitable companion to the Windows Skype for Business client. There are some differences, and (as of now) a few limitations. But overall, I think our Mac customers will enjoy this client very much. If the user of the Skype for Business on Mac desktop client is a callee, or the client is a mobile client, it will keep the original behavior. In addition, this update currently only addresses the issue for the sender side.
As part of my troubleshooting I setup a Windows 10 VM on my Mac and installed the Skype for Business client on it. I tried it out for 2 full days and I had none of these issues happen on that Windows client, so is there some extra configuration that must happen on a Mac to get the client working correctly?
Any help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
